On romance: “Don’t you think like most things, like comedy, like sex, like anything, it’s about timing? I think we collided with each other,” she adds, referring to her husband, “at what turned out to be the perfect time. We knew each other socially and we didn’t get on and we played poker one night and I don’t know how we ended up kissing but we did and he asked me to marry him about three weeks later and we got together in the same spirit.”

On fame: “I’m constantly humbled,” she says. “Just at the moment when you think, I’ll call and get a table at this restaurant, they’re always like, ‘Who?’ So whenever you try and pull that out, it never works. People are always saying they loved me in ‘Titanic.’ ”

On Michelle
You famously got into a car accident on the way to your Glee audition, ditched the rental, and ran to the Fox lot anyway. Were you at all afraid they would think you were nuts?
I was more afraid that they'd think I was using that as an excuse for being late. Because at first they were like, "Oh, my God, are you OK?" But after a while they were joking, "So that 'car crash' you were in ..." I literally had chunks of glass that I pulled from my hair and put on the table. I look back on that day and think, I can't believe I did that. I left the car on the side of the road. But something came over me.

How many tattoos do you have?
I have 10, but they're tiny: a gold star for Rachel, one for Spring Awakening, the butterfly on my back is for my mom, another on my foot is for my cousins, and Kevin and Jenna and I have "Imagine." The day I got my newest one — it won't be my last — I texted Kevin, "At the tattoo parlor," and he replied, "We just got here. Where are you?" And I said, "I'm in New York. Where are you?" And he goes, "At the tattoo parlor in L.A." We'd randomly gone on the same night

Walking into my Glee audition …
I'd gotten a callback that said, "Please come back, wear something sexy" — not my forte — "and have straight hair." I had an hour to get there from another audition, and I was wearing the same vintage dress — my go-to audition outfit that week — but I bought a straightener that I used in a Starbucks bathroom. For the next callback, I got to the studio early to warm up with vocal exercises in the parking lot. I went into the office, but no one was around. Later, I found out they saw that I checked in an hour before at the gate, so they're calling my agent: "Is she lost?" and my agent is calling me, but my phone was locked in the car. Finally, someone finds me, has me sign a form, and says, "You start in two days." I thought I was being punk'd.
You've been campaigning heavily for Christopher Walken to be a guest star — why him?
People always expect us to say Justin Timberlake. But I always go back to Walken's Fatboy Slim video. A rivalry between him and Jane Lynch would be fabulous.
On Amber

How does Glee make you feel?
Unstoppable. In high school, I had to write a bucket list. Meeting the president, being on Oprah, and going to — not being nominated for — the Grammys were on my list. And I've done all of that through Glee. Standing on the White House balcony last year to sing the National Anthem next to Obama, I couldn't look at my castmates — those idiots on the lawn — because they were so excited for me, they were bawling. [laughs] I flew home the next day and swore the plane would crash. I was like, "That's it! What else is there left to do?"

Greatest personality divide between you and Mercedes?
Mercedes and I share confidence, but I would never dress that way! I love color, but all the sneakers and neon and jewelry that she wears? I also never had her insecurities about weight — I was skinny in high school — but I love that now I get to show girls how to be comfortable with their bodies.

Do you like Betty? She’s superficial, strange, and often mean, and yet fascinating.
I don’t judge Betty or necessarily understand her. The audience is passionate about her. After season one they wanted her to speak out against Don and his infidelities. Then in season two, when she did, there was a huge reaction against Betty. They want her to talk—just not too much.

Like Betty, you started out as a model. You left South Dakota at 18 for New York City. Were you nervous?
Not really. I was excited to be independent, but I was also naive—I just wanted to be rich and famous [Laughs]. I lived in an apartment near the Empire State Building. There were a billion girls in New York City who wanted to be models. After a while I was immune to rejection, which helped when I went out to L.A. to become an actress.

In modeling, the criteria is purely aesthetic. So when I got to L.A., I didn’t care if they said I was too small, too blonde, too pretty, or not pretty enough.

On her personal style: "I’m so lucky to have the best hairdressers and fashion stylists in the world. When I’m at premieres, however, I can’t wait to get home and put on my baggy pants. The glamour of Hollywood is such a myth. I can’t help worrying that I’ll trip on my heels, or that my makeup is smudging all over my face."
On her new role in Jane Eyre: "Jane is such a modern character. If you put her in contemporary society, she’d be running Parliament. There’s something so remarkable about a woman who feels worthy of respect regardless of her social status."
On her instant fame: "I’ve since cut off all my hair so I don’t get approached by Alice fans anymore, but at the time it was such a shock. I just really needed to get out of LA. Actors get used to doing things a certain way: we have people who dress us, and people who drive us."
"There’s a lot of babying that comes with the job, but when I’m back home, where there’s currently seven of us—my mom, my dad, my brother, my sister, her boyfriend, and their newborn—cramped into a little house, I’m definitely brought back down to earth. It’s like, ‘Mia! Take out the garbage!’ They don’t let me get away with anything, which is good."
Sungguh sebuah editorial yang eye-catching terutama dengan Mia yang berperan sebagai Twiggy. Ia terlihat sangat mirip dan cantik dalam foto-foto di atas. Gaya 60-an memang sedang kembali ngetrend saat ini dan tidak heran sebuah editorial dengan gaya retro kembali dibuat. Jane Eyre mendapatkan sambutan cukup hangat di Amerika dengan opening yang sangat baik untuk hitungan limited release ( $182,885 di 4 teater dengan rata-rata $45,721 ). Terlebih lagi aktingnya yang disambut pujian para kritikus dan publik. Mia Wasikowska dijamin akan semakin produktif dan meroket dengan peran-peran ke depannya.

On Mia:

You’ve embodied two very famous characters: Alice, in Alice in Wonderland, and now Jane Eyre. Was it difficult to play such icons?
Alice is beloved, so that was a responsibility. I did about five auditions for Alice before I got the role.

Did you have to wear a corset as Alice?
Yes—for two scenes, and it was very painful. But now, having done Jane Eyre, I realize the Alice corsets were sissy corsets. The corsets I wore in Jane Eyre were incredibly painful. Ballet hurts, but it’s more like your feet are killing you. With a corset on, you can’t breathe properly.

But does wearing the proper costume help you get in character?
Absolutely. It’s the last piece of the puzzle. Once you get in the costume, it’s like, Okay, this is who this person is. With Jane Eyre the corset helped me understand the repression and pain of the character.

On Michael :

You are very young to play Rochester in Jane Eyre. Did you love the book? Or were you just intrigued by the part?
I’m probably 10 years too young for Rochester, so I went for a Byronic sort of hero. I didn’t read Jane Eyre in school, but my mother and sister were always talking about it, and that was a big reason why I did it. I didn’t have a preconceived idea of Rochester—I just saw him as encapsulating so many interesting elements: a shady past, intelligent, self-destructive, destructive, passionate. And he has a terrible secret. I’m curious to see what my mother and sister think of my Rochester.

You just finished portraying a superhero, Magneto, in X-Men: First Class. What is your superpower?
I can manipulate metal. I practiced every day with a spoon in my kitchen. I did my Uri Geller.

Were you raised Catholic?
I was. I was head altar boy.

On her love of the romantic comedies “I don’t think I’m being very ‘artistic’ when I do them, but I’m not doing it for that reason. Romantic comedies make me happy. I watch Love Actually every Christmas.”

On being inspired by Meryl Streep’s famously down-to-earth attitude “Meryl, she makes herself very accessible right away, almost too accessible. That’s what I do. And it totally works. My thing about meeting people—men, women, people in general—is to desensitize them, kind of shock them a little bit, to make myself accessible.”

On falling in love on set “[It is] one of the easiest things in the world. You’re both open. You’re put in a situation where you have to make out with each other. It’s easy for things to get carried away.”

"I didn’t like fairy tales when I was younger. I found a lot of fairy tales scary. They really didn’t sit well with me. But I’ve always loved movies that have that kind of fantastical element to them. I was obsessed with Romeo + Juliet [1996]. I was, like, 11 when it came out."

"I went to art school when I was little. I took ballet lessons. I played a little kick ball. I was sort of into everything because I had too much energy and I didn’t know where to put it. When I was a preteen, I got into singing, and became really obsessed with it. But then, of course, that didn’t work out."

"Music was just something that we did. Like a lot of kids, we were forced to take piano lessons when we were younger. Mind you, it was the only thing that my parents forced us to do, because we wanted to quit and they said, 'No, you keep going.'"

"I thought that doing Chloe was going to be a risk and I was wondering what people were going to think, but then I was like, 'You know what? The experience I’ll have making this film is way too important to me.' That can be fulfilling to the point where you just don’t really care about how the work is going to be received. It’s thrilling to just not care—unless, of course, you’d hurt somebody."

Amanda Seyfried yang bersinar di Mean Girls akan mencoba peruntungannya pada tahun ini dengan Red Riding Hood yang akan dirilis bulan depan. Semoga saja film itu bisa sampai ke Indonesia karena kecantikkannya saja sudah lebih dari cukup untuk menjadi alasan menonton film tersebut.
